About The Chambers
In the heart of Folkestone!
Opened in December 1998 by husband and wife team Chris and Liz Smith, The Chambers went from a standing start basement bar to become almost immediately a social, musical and artistic hub of the town, featuring grassroots and international live & DJ music from the start, gallery space & book launches.
In June 1999 our kitchen opened, launching our Mexican inspired menu; the first in the town.
2001 saw the inclusion under The Chambers name of the beautiful art-deco ground floor corner shop directly above the bar, which we snapped up and turned into our fully licensed Coffee Shop. It’s the BEST place for watching the world go by.
So… to 2023! Throughout 2023, we’ll be celebrating our 25 years in business on the same site with the same Folkestone born team.
- Our mission is, and always has been, high standards in all that we do.
- Our bar has been in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide every year bar one, since 2004 and won Pub Of The Year in 2008.
- Our food is all in-house, locally sourced and always hand prepared.
- Our Coffee is Fairtrade.
- Our live and DJ artistes are welcomed and treated with respect.
